Creature

Sickler

Sickler — pack predator.

Two feathered predators emerge from a blizzard — full focus only on a raised, sickle-shaped claw and a dispassionate eye; the rest of the shapes blur into the snow.
Sicklers — they hunt in a pack, patiently.

Sicklers are the pack predators of the wildwood hereabouts — they hunt as a group, patiently, and are truly dangerous to a man. They don't frighten from a story; they wound in earnest. They are the hardest danger of any journey deep into the forest: they can surround and maim before the men can close into a ring. They stand for a plain truth about that wild country — that it is deadly, not merely fearsome in a tale.
