Character
Tedo
Tedo — of the Combes.
Elder of the hamlet of the Combes, about sixty years old, husband of Hala. Warm, decisive, a good householder — he runs things smoothly and without drama. Zora lodges in his house, and the whole village gathers there. He believes, sincerely and calmly, that the sudden healings in the Combes are a blessing, and it is this conviction that Zora's inquiry runs up against like a wall: not malice, only a different way of seeing the world. When Zora points to the stone, he answers quietly: "It's a blessing, not your stone."
