Character
Wisza
Wisza.
Wife of Krecz the dyer and mother of the groom, Jur, about forty-five winters — loud, domineering, warm without tact, she rules the house from the kitchen. From the start she favours the young couple (the little kegs she keeps bringing are her clumsy attempts to get into the wedding) and is the first to "barge" into Olma's kitchen. She speaks in commands and is the first to laugh at herself, and her warmth is bossing people about and piling food on them by force. Together with Bela she is the engine of the reconciliation of the two feuding houses through a shared kitchen.
